Dark Dark Dark   The Snow Magic
BLN-001/SAD-001

How to describe the sound of Dark Dark Dark? Rock fans say it's folk, folk purists say it's pop, and pop fans say it's weird. But somehow they all love its hauntingly hopeful, unabashedly melodic sound. Four acoustic instruments and four voices, at once familiar and strange.

Dark Dark Dark's first full-length album, The Snow Magic, showcases all the intricacies of their songwriting and arranging skills, as well as the exuberant energy of their performances. Infectious vocal harmonies are interwoven with accordion, banjo, cello, and bass sounds that veer between the nostalgic and the strikingly unconventional. Guest appearances by drummer Martin Dosh propel songs like Ashes, transforming the song's dark subject matter into a hopeful, devil-may-care, cabaret romp. Start to finish, this disc plays like the soundtrack to a surreal and romantic film.

The CD's packaging includes an 8 page booklet of photographs by Timothy G. Piotrowski -- glimpses of those ghost monuments to wildness that everyone peers at through the glass on a Sunday at the Natural History museum...

The Snow Magic's national release is made possible by Supply and Demand Music.
