We found out about Spirits of the Red City when frontman Will Garrison returned to Minneapolis after a sojourn in Alaska, overflowing with songs and inspiration. This band is an enormous crew of talented friends who take the spare bones of lonely folk songs and drape them with lush layers of strings, harmonies, accordion, and percussion.
The CD package has a clever and beautiful fold-out map design too.
